Casino Español
The Casino Español was founded in 1863 by members of Mexico City's Spanish community, and its home in the historic center is one of the city's grand interiors: marble staircases, a gilded hall, the heavy ornament of a building made to impress. It still runs as a private society, and its salons carry a formality newer venues can't manufacture. A gathering here borrows the weight of a century and a half.
